Concept & UX for GeoTime Web Application Prototype

Gnomon is a technology startup focusing on improving the group calendaring and event scheduling experience. In addition to my role as COO, I provided the UX direction including that of several new conceptual designs, one of which was to become the GeoTimeĀ® Event Locator web application. The GeoTime concept utilized an elegant visual interface to search for events by location and time using keywords and iCal event metadata tags. By overlaying iCal metadata on maps provided through the Google Maps API, GeoTime made customizable event searching faster and easier; a fact proven in usability tests.

The concept grew from the problem of how to display event data in a more visual form, rather than the current method using tables of dates, times and location. With the GeoTime UI, a user can select event type(s), and using Google Maps integration, zoom into any location and see specific events taking place within any date range.

I began with conceptual drawings from meetings, then progressing to the creation of a functional specification. Once this was complete, I created logic flows, wireframes and several visual concepts. The final result was a functional prototype built in Adobe Flash.
